Hotels Are Like Choosing a New Pair of Shoes

One of the hardest decisions of any trip is choosing the right hotel. You could compare it to buying a new pair of shoes; do you want stylish yet blister causing? Or durable and robust but have the suspicion Doris your 84 year old neighbour also has the same pair.

Choosing a hotel can be a difficult process as it’s the safe space that you will be calling home, even if it’s only for a few days. The number of amenities to consider can be overwhelming, there’s just not enough hours in the day to search for a hotel with eiderdown pillows, Moroccan Rose bath salts and Marlborough region wines stocked in the minibar.

Sites such as Trivago and Airbnb cater to the zeitgeist of choice, that consumers want all reigning power in their holiday decisions. Whilst this plethora of choice is great, it can be time consuming  to read the descriptions to fifty or more hotels. Sometimes hotels don’t live up to their marketing efforts either, that pristine magnolia wallpaper has somewhat faded in the years after the initial photo shoot.

We hear it in the office, the great lengths of chatter that goes into selecting the perfect hotel for our clients. A hotel that doesn’t live up to expectations can ruin the foundations of a business trip, think back through your career and you will probably be able to reimagine a particular horror story. Sometimes it’s easier to throw in the towel and start again tomorrow however you could get someone else to do all the hard work for you. Through our partnership with ALTOUR we have access to a world renounced collection of quality hotels, so we can assure you that our clients aren’t left with a pair of 2006 “vintage” Crocs.
