Avri has over 40 years offshore oil and gas experience, in the management, engineering and construction of upstream and midstream gas facilities and marine structures, working with major international companies. Since 2000, he has been involved with the Israeli offshore gas industry since its inception, including Gaza Marine, the INGL offshore transmission pipeline and facilities, LNG receiving buoy (FSRU), and landfall work.
Avri holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from Technion University as well as an M.Sc in Civil Engineering from California State University. He also served five years as a marine officer in the Navy. As a pioneer in oil and gas engineering, Avri played a key role in the early 1970s development and construction of semi-submersible pipe-laying vessels, pipe-laying reel ships and jet-sleds. A decade later, Avri also contributed to the engineering and construction of the first Tension Leg Platform (TLP) for the North Sea Hutton Field.
Most of his career has been devoted to international offshore development, specifically in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, China, Middle East and Far East with companies such as Santa Fé International, Bechtel, Arco, British Gas and E-on Engineering.
